In my opinion, one of the hardest things for people to is: OBEY! We all know what's right and what's wrong, but something inside of us pulls us in the wrong direction. We as Christians must understand that that our "old man" is not completely gone. We must learn to die daily. The struggle we will face for the rest of our lives is the struggle between good and evil. Therefore, we are to stay prayerful and focused. Total obedience to God is really not that hard. We make it hard. In order for us to really reap the harvest we have been promised, we must submit to God. This society has taught us to be self-supportive and not to count on no one. That is BAD advice. Today, God is askign for us to trust him completely and love him totally. Yes, things are hard. Yes, it seems like nothing is working right. But, I hear God saying, "you shall REAP, if you faint not!" This week, don't focus on the problems of your life-focus on faithfulness of God. |

New Birth,
Our church is a church that doesn't count the mmembers, but rather the members we can count on! This year, New Birth will participate in the Relay For Life Event at Prichard Stadium on May 15, 2009. I am asking each member of this church to register at http://main.acsevents.org/site/TR?pg=team&fr_id=15807&team_id=477269 and signup to participate. This is a great program and all monies raised will go to the fight against cancer. Let's always remember that greatness is not in the title, but the towel. Jesus was a man that believed in serving others. During this next month, in the midst of our Anniversary commitments, let's set aside some funds to help this iniative. With our help, we are moving one step closer to cures. |

One of the greatest things we can ever do for ourselves, is to stay commited to a cause. It is so easy to get overwhelmed, but we must remember that God has given us an assignment and we must finish. In a week, we will be concluding Lent. Each day we move closer to the day in which our Savior was killed. From that experience, I often reflect on where were the crowds of people he had touched during his 3 1/2 years of ministry. Where were the lepers? Where were the 9,000 + he fed? Where was the woman with the issue of blood? Where were the blind men? Where were Lazarus, Mary, and Martha? Jesus had blessed them and gave of himself for them, yet when he needed them most they were gone. We today are just the same. We come to church when things are good. We priase God for the blessings he gives, but when things begin to get turbulent in our lives our actions change. Jesus reminds, "greater love has no man that will lay down his life for his friends." Christ has given us the greatest commitment, "I will never leave you nor forsake you!" Today, examine your commitment to God. Wherever you are slack, change. Don't put of to tomorrow what you ought to do today. |
